Stage Bloody Whatever of the Tour de Nat
09.08.05 (1:38 pm)   [edit]

At this point I am just plain fed up! Most of my worldly posessions except for clothes and shoes are still stuck in Texas. Why? Well, if the best way to get something done is to do it yourself, the worst way to get it done would be to ask self-involved people and complete strangers to do it for you.

We left our stuff in storage in Texas and organized shipping of the things through my new job, since they are paying my relocation expenses. My liason in Texas is a close trusted beloved relative, so you'd think that would help.

I didn't sleep well at all last night worrying about our stuff in storage. The longer it takes to start shipping the longer it will be before we get our stuff. The shipping time is 5 to 21 days. That is a BIG ASS window. I had to get firm's approval on the movers because they are paying for the move, so of course
they dragged their asses for over a week before getting back to me on the who, the how and the when. We were supposed to get our stuff September 1st. It's now Sept 8th and our stuff is still in Texas.

To compound matters, my dearest beloved relative is trying to schedule the pick up of our stuff around her hair appointments. No, seriously. The movers were supposed to go immediately and look at the stuff in the storage to see how much it would cost to move all of it etc. Because the storage place is hot and sticky, she postponed the look-see for 4 days to coincide with her next appointment at the salon. Then the actual pick up she scheduled for A SATURDAY. Not any specific Saturday but A SATURDAY. Which means we have to wait till they have a Saturday open, so weeks will pass before we get our stuff including our Winter gear. Btw, Fall is upon us here. It's already getting nippy. Each Saturday that passes means another week of waiting. I cannot stress how frustrating this is. I feel like she has no clue how desperate we are to have our things. The other day she sent me an email asking how we are managing without beds. I almost cried. She has to know that it's not comfortable. Not having our stuff makes the place feel so unhomey and lonely, to add insult to injury.

Anyway, I've cried and bitched and moaned and it hasn't made a difference. Our stuff is still sitting there in Texas.

I got even more bad news today. CTV in it's infinite assery has decided not to show new episodes of Veronica Mars until Summer 2006. WTF??? The new season starts on September 28th on UPN and I don't live in an area where you get UPN on cable. Despite all these frustrations, I still (heart) Canada. Oh, Canada!

Why do I still (heart) Canada, despite CTV's assery? I love this place because Canadian health care rocks (compared to the crap I am used to). I went to the ER on Monday because of continual projectile vomitting and a nasty migraine. They had to give me an IV to replace the fluids I lost and demerol for the pain. The demerol made the vomitting worse. I think my personal best was 7 feet in terms of distance of spewage. They gave me gravol for the tummy and that settled things down. I was able to go home but man was I drugged up. Canadian health care trumps the US. I paid nothing and I had 6 different nurses and a doctor look in on me. Well, I paid nothing upfront. I'm sure it comes out in my taxes.
