One of the posts I removed (if you read and recall it) was a rant against the Coen brothers selling out and making this remake (the Coen bros making a movie with TOM HANKS???!! %*$*!). The original "The Ladykillers" is an absolute gem. Perfect in every way. But, it's a British film from 1955, so who cares, right? Mid-last year I posted a note - http://m-blog.com/?14.&id=1058215836040519.& - on my old m-blog that the original "Ladykillers" was one of my top-ten favorite films of all time. Plus, go to imdb.com and have a look at what people say about the ORIGINAL movie: they love it! So many say that it's one of the minor greats of cinema! People get a bit abusive if you don't like it... like you kicked their dog. I tried to get through the movie twice and had to shut it off both times. I just couldn't do it... and I have sat through some bad movies. |

While it's not the best film by the Coen Brothers (Raising Arizona, Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou, Intolerable Cruelty etc.), it's not their worst film. Take this all with a grain of salt. This is coming to you from a woman who HATED The Big Lebowski. HATED IT. HATE THE DUDE AND HIS CRAPPY BATHROBE AND DIRTY SLIPPERS!!!. Probably because I have never been a big fan of Jeff Bridges, who I think is an extremely talented actor but reminds me in his physical appearance and mannerisms (not his personality) of this guy who tortured me in high school, teased me mercilessly and publicly dry-humped me without my permission in front of the school assembly when the teacher's weren't looking. Ok, enough about me - back to Ladykillers.
