I was told today by PJF that Galactica was written by one of the guys from DS:9 (which is, to me, the finest example of Star Trek with the best writing/plot). Now, I'm stoked. :o) ~ae posted by: dangerkitty (reply) post date: 11.30.06 (10:50 am) Reply to: aesav23 I guarantee, you are going to love it!! LOVE BSG!! Oh, and DS9 was the best ST for me. Loved it more than TNG. It's Olmos too good to be true. Guess who has been watching reruns of Buck Rogers on Space? Man, that show was so stupid. Arnold as President? No, not that Arnold. posted by: dustyjumpwings (reply) post date: 11.30.06 (3:13 pm) "along with offers to hold an officer's 'gun'." Heh, heh... yeah. I'm very interested in just who Greg Foster is..? Maybe you've mentioned him to us, but I don't remember. The name is familiar. Btw, I now know the reason behind the sudden use of "frak"!! I prefer "fark" and "frick", but that's just me. :D posted by: dangerkitty (reply) post date: 11.30.06 (3:37 pm) Reply to: dustyjumpwings "Fark" will always have a special place in my heart ... er vocabulary. It's just the world's most perfect word ... along with "botany". Don't ask. posted by: dustyjumpwings (reply) post date: 11.30.06 (11:04 pm) Reply to: dangerkitty Botany? How can I not ask? posted by: dangerkitty (reply) post date: 12.01.06 (4:57 pm) Reply to: dustyjumpwings When I was little and didn't know what it meant, I used to crack when I heard grown-ups using the word. It just sounded like they were complaining "But, Annie ...". posted by: dustyjumpwings (reply) post date: 12.01.06 (5:05 pm) Reply to: dangerkitty Did your relatives regularly speak about botany? When I think 'botantist', I think Laura Dern in JP. Except, she was a paleobotanist. posted by: dangerkitty (reply) post date: 12.01.06 (5:32 pm) Reply to: dustyjumpwings Pale-ole-butt, Annie. Heh heh. posted by: heavyarms (reply) post date: 12.15.06 (7:23 am) My wife would agree with you about Galactica being the best show on TV. She just about drove me crazy through the months of September and October asking "When is Galactica going to be on again?" I figured out why it appeals to so many people 1) It's a great action show, so it appeals to men. 2) It's basically a soap opera in space, which is why it appeals to women and non-traditional males. Obviously, some chicks dig action shows, but you get the gist. I hate to say it, but every time the copier jams on me at work I let loose with "Frak!" much to the consternation of my co-workers. "Where is he getting that from?" Hopefully you refrain from "Motherfraker" and "Gods damn it" which are just plain lame. "Beyond Band of Brothers" is an incredible book. Made me go back and re-read Band of Brothers and re-watch the mini-series. Guys like Patton and Eisenhower weren't the heroes in that war, it was the guys like Winters. Patton and Ike were fortunate to have men like Dick Winters under their command. |
