Kudos to her for her ingenuity! Moms are good at that! My mom's house got hit by a tornado about 5 years ago - she refused to stay with me afterwards - 3+ weeks without power or hot water... (And I lived 15 mins away!!!) The news coverage does tend to focus on the worst side of things. I was disappointed with the Frances coverage of the Bahamas as well - thank goodness for the internet! I was able to get a msg to/from my friends via a bulletin board where someone knew of them and relayed messages back/forth. (How cool was that!?!?) Was her home damaged at all? I hope the power is back on soon. Otherwise she's gonna be trying to make chocolate cake using a candle too!
